As you read this, I will be at Lake Junaluska for Annual Conference. Please keep the delegates and the Conference in your prayers. The following is from the Western NC Conference web page.
Goodpaster prepares for first WNC Annual Conference, June 11-14
Anticipation is building for next week’s WNC Annual Conference at Lake Junaluska. Bishop Larry Goodpaster is preparing for his first as our bishop, while Conference Secretary Kim Ingram is assuming the role left to her by Denny White, who served for more than two decades in that capacity.
Bishop Goodpaster is emphasizing holy conferencing in the Wesleyan tradition, as a means by which delegates will gather, worship and do business. He instituted a time of preparation prior to the meeting and has provided some guidelines on holy conferencing.
In addition to two new vital leaders, delegates will see and experience several significant changes: more worship, less business, new location for registration, better restroom facilities, more parking for those with handicapping conditions, food court on the lawn and more. A recent survey among delegates affirmed these changes were wanted and needed.
Much work has gone into planning inspirational and innovative worship experiences. Styles and worship resources from various ethnic traditions will characterize the different services.
