Week of October 4, 2009
This Sunday we are reminded of our connection with other Christians and our connection with other
United Methodists. During our morning worship we will gather to celebrate Holy Communion and
attend to the sacred work of the church through Charge Conference. Our new District Superintendent,
Amy Coles, will be present to preach, celebrate communion and preside at Charge Conference.
In a world in which we may share information with one another globally the feeling of isolation is
growing. Connection through electronic means does not often translate into connection on a personal or
spiritual level.
This Sunday’s two events in our lives as United Methodist Christians remind us of the tie that binds us
to all Christians as we drink from the one cup of the new covenant given by Jesus’ sacrifice and we
celebrate our connection with other United Methodists in our District, Conference, Jurisdiction and
world-wide.
I hope you will make this Sunday a priority and as we proclaim that we are part of the Body of Christ.
