A Note From Rob ...
Week of January 10, 2010
I recall in my first appointment a young man talking with me about miracles. It seems as if he had seen someone
write Jesus name on a leather belt with his finger. He said, “Now that is a real miracle.” The fact that he was at a
traveling carnival that moved from small town to small town did not diminish the miraculous nature of the event,
for him.
It was clear to me that his mind was “made up” and my attempts at logic fell on deaf ears. In a last ditch effort I
suggested that the real miracles were in the lives of folks like us who had been touched and Jesus love had been
written on our hearts. His response was something like, “Yeah, but that was a real miracle.”
Epiphany is a season during which we look at the manifestations that revealed Jesus, the babe of Bethlehem, as the
Messiah. Perhaps, we might take some time to remind ourselves of when that moment of epiphany was made
known to us. That is more miraculous than any side show.
I hope to see you Sunday. Miracles still happen.
