A Note From Rob ...

     What goes up must come down was the axiom I was taught from childhood. I confirmed the truth of it with rocks, arrows and baseballs. So far, every thing I tossed or shot into the air returned to earth. As far as I know, that is.

     Usually the wait was brief. A possible exception was a balloon. I am sure it came down at some point, somewhere, but it was beyond my sight. I do recall watching it float away until it was a speck in the sky and then but a memory. When and where would it descend back to earth?

     This Sunday in the church calendar is Ascension Sunday. The texts tell us about Jesus’ ascension and the promise of His return. In a sense Jesus told them, “Who goes up will come down.”

     I hope to see you this Sunday as we celebrate the ascension of Jesus to be with His Father and the following Sunday as we celebrate the arrival of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.

     We will have a covered dish meal following that Sunday as we recall the birth of the Church with the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is a family meal and I hope the entire family will be present.
