A Note From Rob ...
Some highlights of Annual Conference:
- Voted to keep Annual Conference at Lake Junaluska for 2011.
- Inspiring Worship Services
- Rain, Rain and more Rain.
- Minnie Lee Moore and Peg Pinkston represented First UMC
- Cool outside of Stuart Auditorium
- Not cool inside of Stuart Auditorium
- Debate on budget, Annual Conference location lengthy and passionate
- Rob went to the sessions and paid attention.
- Annual Conference will be from June 9-12, 2011.
- Budget $14,409,256 for 2011.
- We called to Re-Think Church:
- Where Church is a verb not a noun.
- Where what happens Monday-Saturday is as important as on Sunday.
- Where what happens outside the walls as important as what happens inside the walls.
- Where people outside the church are as important as those who claim membership in the church.
I am pleased to be reappointed to FUMC and look forward to helping us Re-Think Church as we endeavor to be more
faithful followers of Jesus Christ, making disciples and transforming the world.
Please join us this Sunday. This summer we will continue looking at the Lord’s Prayer in worship. Perhaps you might
join me in praying this prayer on a frequent and daily basis. Pray it slowly and allow the words to penetrate heart, mind
and soul.
Last Sunday we focused our attention on the opening phrase, “Our Father.” This Sunday will be “Hallowed or Holy is
your name.”
In preparation please consider what it means for God to be holy or hallowed?
