A Note From Rob ...

In days gone by I auditioned for parts in plays, musicals and other stage performances. I have tried out for teams that were of interest to me and with whom I thought I might be of assistance.

There were people who decided if I got the part or made the team based on my ability or the team needs. That was out of my control. The only things necessary for me was to have the interest and ability.

Let’s assume for a minute that one who auditions has the ability to play the role. They are gifted with the ability to perform their role in the play. But they decide they don’t want to be in the play.

Let’s further assume that there is a part for everyone. What if everyone decides they want to be in the play and play the role they are gifted and assigned to play. What a great play it will be because the whole cast will be present.

But what would happen if some chose not to perform their role or wanted a role different than the one that best suited them?

The critic and audience would not be pleased. Now imagine that the people of FUMC are the cast. We are not the critics or audience, God is. And God has issued a casting call to each and all of us. The Creator has gifted us to play an important role for the Kingdom of God.

I hope you will choose to answer the casting call. We will meet at 9:30am this Sunday in the Fellowship to discover our giftedness so we might each fill the role best suited for us.

I hope and pray each of us comes to be a part of the discovery and is a part of what God has gifted, called, and has for us to do.
