Notes from Rob…(via Charles)
- We will be worshipping in the Chapel for two more Sundays, August 28 and September 4. Rob will be on
vacation both Sundays; Randy Tarlton will be preaching on August 28, and Rebecca Shuford, a
ministerial student from Norwood, will preach on September 4. (You may remember Rebecca from last
summer, when she filled in one Sunday.)
- On September 11, we will move back in to the Sanctuary, continuing to meet at 10:30 a.m. until the time
change later in the fall. September 11 will mark the tenth anniversary of the New York terrorist attack,
and we will be observing that in worship. In preparation, think back to where you were when you heard
the news in 2001, and your reaction. One observation we made was that there were more people in
church the following Sunday than the previous Easter – does that say anything?
- When we move back to the Sanctuary, try to maintain the spirit of closeness and community that we have
in the Chapel by coming closer together, both physically and spiritually. It has been noted that the
sanctuary looks so empty on the television broadcast. We can remedy that by sitting in the front half of
the church. We can also show that we are a “United” Methodist family, gathered together as one body to
praise and serve the One who gave us all that we are and have.
Hoping to see you this Sunday and the following Sundays!
