Haiti Earthquake Response

As you are by now well aware, the earthquake in Haiti has taken a horrible toll on the people of the island nation. As United Methodists, we are called to respond to this disaster. Monetary contributions may be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). You may send your donation to the church office or place in the offering plate, marking it as “Haiti” or “UMCOR.” 100% of your donations will go to Haiti relief.

Other Haiti Information You Might Use

Two United Methodist UMCOR officials, Rev. Sam Dixon of the NC Conference and Rev. Clinton Rabb of the Southwest Texas Conference died in the earthquake.

Online Prayer Wall - United Methodists everywhere are invited to share a prayer for those affected by the Haiti earthquake. Visit the Facebook group for 10thousanddoors.org to lift up your praise or concern on the wall.

A Prayer for the People of Haiti

The seas roar, the earth shakes, buildings crumble, roofs topple, and walls turn to dust.
Have mercy on the people of Haiti, O God.
Nations watch, alarms sound, traffic halts, utilities stop, and news is hard to verify.
Give us compassion to weep with those who weep, O God. People die, families mourn, mountains split, infrastructures and superstructures alike are gone.
Make us swift to help and persistent to rebuild, not just things and structures, but lives, O God. Through Christ, the solid Rock. Amen.
